OSU Beaver Beginnings is located at 11th & Adams, is a full-day NAEYC Accredited childcare center for children of students, staff and faculty. There are 148 full-time spaces for infants through preschool, plus a private Kindergarten. Childcare may be purchased in segments of half-time, flex-time and full-time. There is also drop-in care. The Center is operated by Children’s Creative Learning Centers. Further information may be obtained by calling the Center (737-4641) or at http://www.cclc.com/osu.
Our Little Village- Library
Our Little Village- Library is a short term drop off childcare center for children of students. Located on the 3 rd floor of The Valley Library in room 3564, the center is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:30pm-11pm, Saturdays from 12-10pm and Sundays from 10am-10pm. Parents can drop off their children ages 6 months to 10 years for 2-3 hours per day, depending on demand. *Parents must remain in the library while their child is being care for by OLV-Library* Please follow the link for the registration form.
Growing Oaks Child Development Center, located at 3731 SW
Jefferson Way, Corvallis is open from 7:00am-6pm and is managed by Corvallis
Community Children's Centers. There are currently 52 spaces for children aged
six weeks thru Kindergarten. You can contact the OSU Growing Oaks Center by
calling 737-7745. Some United Way and City of Corvallis subsidy money is available
based on financial need. Growing Oaks is an NAEYC Accredited child care center.
Morning Sessions meet: Tuesday-Friday, 9:00-12:00. The Morning program serves a snack and lunch.
Afternoon sessions meet: Tuesday-Friday, 1:00-3:30 PM. The afternoon session serves a snack.
Families whose income falls below the poverty level may be eligible to enroll
at no cost for the preschool program and additional services through the
Oregon Head Start Pre-kindergarten Program. Children with special developmental
needs
are welcome. Registration forms and cost information are available at the
Center or by calling the Center office at 737-2516.
Spouses of international students may bring their preschool children with them when attending the Crossroads Conversational English School, Tuesday & Thursday mornings, 9:15-11:15 a.m., at the Church of the Good Samaritan, 35th & Harrison Streets. Child care is provided on a "space-available" basis for children from eight months to five years for a fee. For enrollment forms and cost information, contact Crossroads coordinator in the Office of International Education, 4th floor, Snell Hall.
A good contact for child care reference resources is Family Connections (formerly Child Care Resource & Referral) which is located on the Linn-Benton Community College campus in Albany. Family Connections helps parents find and assess child care providers. A small fee is charged for this service. They have up-to-date information on child care resources in Linn & Benton counties and can be reached at 917-4899 or 1-800-845-1363. The Linn & Benton Counties Family Connections Child Care Check-in Service is offered by providers in Linn and Benton Counties. This care offers supervised before- and after-school customized care for pre- and early-adolescent age children by skilled family child care providers in their neighborhoods. The provider referrals may be accessed through the Linn & Benton Counties Family Connections, phone 917-4899.
The Corvallis Boy's & Girls Club has an Open Club House program after school Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 7:00pm. Cost is $15 membership per school year, which includes summer. The Summer Day Camp Program is an especially fun program. The elementary school age children are treated to a different theme each week. Call 757-1909 for more information.
The STARS (Super Time for Arts, Academics, Recreation and Sports) After-School Program at Adams, Garfield, Hoover, Jefferson, Mt. View, Clemons & Wilson Elementary schools from 2:45pm to 6:30pm. There is a monthly charge for this program. Please call 757-4864 for more information.
Child Care Subsidy - Child Care Subsidy for OSU Students - A limited subsidy for children of OSU students has been established through the Associated Students of OSU (student government). Students apply for this subsidy at any OSU child care facility or at Student Involvement (MU East 149). The subsidy may be used at other licensed child care centers as well.
Campus Financial Aid - The OSU Financial Aid Office has established need analysis and awarding policies that recognize child care expenses as a basic budgeting item for student parents. These expenses are funded within the awarding parameters set by the Financial Aid Office. That is to say that they can be funded through a combination of grants, loans, and work-study. Submit your child care costs to the Financial Aid Office.
The Faculty/Staff Dependent Care Account allows you to save money for child care expenses on a tax-free basis. You may designate a monthly payroll deduction, which is deposited to your spending account. Throughout the year, as you spend out-of-pocket money for eligible dependent care expenses, you submit claims along with your receipts. The spending account administrator will reimburse you from the tax-free money you have set aside in your account. If you use this program, your use of the federal and Oregon child care tax credits will be limited. In general, if your adjusted gross income (including that of your partner, if any) is expected to be more than $25,000, most likely you will be better off receiving reimbursements under the spending account. Grants - State Block grants to offset the cost of child care
are available through Linn & Benton Counties Family Connections. There is
a waiting list. State
Block Grant Information changes periodically, so please check the Oregon
Department of Human Services website to get current information.
For eligible employees, state and federal family leave laws provide a job-protected right take to time off work to care for ill children. Further information is available from the Employee Benefits Office, 737-2805, 122B Kerr Administration Building.
