AAP Releases Textbook Tip Sheet

What Every Student Should Know About College Textbooks

Washington DC, September 13, 2005: Although college textbooks represent just one of the many important purchases a student must make when starting a new term, a recent Government Accountability Office report on college textbooks has sparked new interest in the topic. As the GAO report acknowledges, the college textbook industry is very complex. Because some of the dialogue has been oversimplified and realities glossed over, the Association of American Publishers has issued a Textbook Tip Sheet. Intended as a resource for college students, the Tip Sheet can help students better understand some of the issues raised in the GAO report, including textbook pricing, bundling, and new editions.
