Our Mission
To increase our understanding of how biotic and abiotic stressors affect forest health, productivity, and regeneration and to assist in developing management practices that sustain multiple values derived from eastern forests.
Research
Our research is focused on:
- Ecophysiology and pathology of forest regeneration
- Site and nutrient factors affecting forest health and sustainability
A staff of three scientists and three science support professionals work on these research problems along with partners and collaborators.

This site is under development as the Forest Service brings together the Northeastern and North Central Research Stations to form the Northern Research Station, serving the Northeast and Midwest.
