An insulated pressure vessel for hydrogen storage designed and built at LLNL being tested according to the Department of Transportation bonfire test. This certification test requires the pressure vessel to withstand 30 minutes inside the fire while keeping its structural integrity. The vessel successfully passed the test. Insulated pressure vessels are being developed at LLNL as an alternative hydrogen storage technology. The technology is now being demonstrated on a pickup truck in SunLine transit at Palm Desert, California.
