Research Interests:
Pear pest management has relied heavily on chemical control tactics because of low pest thresholds on the crop. High pesticide inputs lead to rapid evolution of pesticide resistance in insects and mites, and Washington pear growers have faced resistance problems in key pests over the past 40 years. Research in Dr. Dunley's lab is directed at development of pesticide resistance management programs, reducing resistance or slowing the rate of resistance evolution by reducing the use of insecticides through IPM practices and developing tactics to use pesticide classes in rotations.
Research Objectives:
Dr. Dunley's Lab at the WSU-Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center in Wenatchee WA hopes to provide easily accessible information about arthropod pests of pear and the damage they cause, information about beneficial insects, and information about our current research
