Forecast for 2008 net farm income is $86.9 billion, just slightly over record $86.8 billion estimated for 2007. ERS provides a comprehensive forecast of component earnings and expenses.

Eighty-nine percent of U.S. households were food secure throughout the entire year in 2007 (access at all times to enough food). Rates of food insecurity were essentially unchanged from 2005 and 2006.
