How Your Support Helps

Each year, nearly 1 million visitors from home and abroad experience our state through the New York State Museum. For many, it’s their first and only glimpse into the rich natural and human history of the Empire State. For others, it’s a visit with an old friend—a place they grew up with and now share with their children and grandchildren.

By supporting the New York State Museum, you help preserve our legacy as
the oldest and largest continuously operating state museum in the nation. Your support also helps the Museum continue to enhance the quality of life in the Capital Region and beyond. Here’s how:

  • Free educational programs for kids, youth and teens expand the minds of the more than 400,000 children who visit the Museum annually.
  • Free public programs for young adults, adults and seniors advance lifelong learning through guided tours, lectures, films and discussions.
  • Research by our internationally renowned scientists helps conserve our environment and protect its wildlife.
  • Museum visitors from outside the area infuse $40 million into the Capital Region economy each year.

In all, your support makes the difference between a good and a great museum.

On behalf of all of us at the New York State Museum, I invite you to become a part of this unique celebration of all things New York. Thank you very much for your consideration and generosity. We look forward to seeing you here.
