National Research Initiative - Human Nutrition and Obesity

The National Research Initiative (NRI) was not reauthorized in the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (Pub. L. 110-246; i.e., the 2008 Farm Bill). We encourage you to explore funding opportunities under the new Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) competitive grants program at www.csrees.usda.gov/business/reporting/stakeholder/an_stakeholder_afri. This crosscutting program addresses the complex problem of obesity prevention. Projects funded by this program are intended to lead to a better understanding of the behavioral and environmental factors that influence obesity and to the development and evaluation of effective interventions to prevent obesity.
