Auditions Scheduled for ‘The Mikado’

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Auditions have been set at Oregon State University for an upcoming production of Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Mikado.”

Auditions will be held for OSU and Linn-Benton Community College students on Monday, May 12, and Tuesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. on the Withycombe Main Stage on the OSU campus.

Open public auditions will be held on Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24 in Withycombe Hall on campus.

The production calls for singers, dancers, and actors. Singing demands range from speaking on pitch to operatic. Principal and supporting roles and chorus members are all open for casting. Roles, libretto, and music are available online.

Those who audition must be prepared with a solo from an operetta, opera, or musical theater production. If the main solo is in a foreign language, an additional solo in English is required. An accompanist will be provided, but attendees must bring sheet music for the pianist.

Rehearsals for “The Mikado” will begin in late June or early July and run through the final performance on Aug. 17. Cast members must also be available for fall revival performances, Oct. 3-5.
