OSU to Sign Dual Degree Partnership Agreement on Tuesday with Clackamas

On Tuesday (June 3) Oregon State University will sign a dual degree partnership agreement with Clackamas Community College. This new agreement gives OSU a partnership with all 17 of Oregon’s community colleges, making it the only university in the state with that distinction.

OSU also has a similar agreement with two community colleges in Hawaii.

OSU President Ed Ray and Clackamas Community College President Joanne Truesdell will be on-hand to sign the agreement, which will allow students to enroll concurrently at both schools in a seamless pathway to degree completion.

The program can help students by providing lower tuition costs and increasing flexibility in scheduling – with access to more classes through the community college, on-site at OSU and online through classes offered via OSU Extended Campus, according to Kate Peterson, OSU’s assistant provost for enrollment management. It also helps students receiving financial assistance to cover classes at both schools, she added.

“This agreement helps OSU meet our land grant mission with the state,” Peterson said, “and it creates a pipeline for students to make higher education a reality.”

More than 5,500 students have taken advantage of OSU’s dual degree enrollment program since 1998, and more than 2,400 were enrolled in the program in the spring term of 2007.
