ROTC Branches at OSU to Undergo Annual Joint Service Review

CCORVALLIS, Ore. – The four ROTC branches at Oregon State University will combine on Friday, May 2, for their annual Joint Service Review.

The event begins at 11 a.m. with a parade in the Memorial Union quad. It is free and open to the public.

Lt. General Robert L. Van Antwerp, who serves as the U.S. Army Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will be this year’s guest speaker and reviewing Officer. He serves as the senior military officer overseeing much of the country’s civil works infrastructure and military construction.

At the close of the event, all units will participate in a "Pass and Review" ceremony. This traditionally involves units that are getting ready to deploy passing by the high ranking officer where they are reviewed.

There will be a reception following the parade.

The annual Joint Service Review at OSU is a formal military parade featuring the Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force ROTC detachments. Its origins can be traced by as far as 1918, when the state governor reviewed the troops during World War I.

About OSU ROTC: For more than a century, military training has been offered at Oregon State University. OSU is now one of only a handful of colleges and universities across the nation that offers education for all four military branches – the Army, Air Force, Marines and Navy. Oregon State University’s Army ROTC program is the host of this year’s Joint Service Review.
