Dietary Supplement Ingredient and Labeling Databases ODS has undertaken a series of initiatives that will lead to the development of a database providing the composition of dietary supplements derived from analytical chemical data. These data can then be integrated with food composition databases to achieve complete daily intake estimates of nutrients and other substances in both foods and dietary supplements. These projects are funded by ODS in collaboration with other organizations within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Assessment of Dietary Supplement Use, Workshop on Database Needs(July 2001). ODS sponsored a workshop focusing on the potential need for a national database of dietary supplements.
Future Directions for What We Eat in America–NHANES: The Integrated CSFII-NHANES(June 2002). ODS cosponsored a workshop with other organizations within DHHS and USDA that brought together representatives of the major stakeholder communities to discuss current survey methodology, data needs, and the analyses required to describe usual dietary intake from both foods and dietary supplements. The proceedings were published as a Special Issue on the Integrated CSFII-NHANES, J. Nutr. 133:575-634S, February 2003
