Recognition Cards

These larger format laminated recognition cards will help professional s, students and the general public learn to recognize up to 80 non-native and invasive plant species found throughout Florida. All of these plant species are currently targeted for control in public waters and conservation lands around the state by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and other management agencies. Individual cards feature full color photographs on the front to help with visual recognition, as well as helpful information on the back about the plant’s appearance (leaves, flowers, and fruit). Plant distribution and ecological threat information also are provided. Alphabetized by scientific name, the cards are bound with a metal clasping ring that allows you to add, remove, or reorganize the cards as needed. All sets include an index in the front section with plants listed by both common and scientific names; a text glossary of botanical terminology; an illustrated glossary; and a bibliography. Regional sets contain recognition cards for plants occurring in specific areas of Florida: northwest, northeast, central, southwest, and southeast. |

Grasses, Sedges and Rushes of Wetlands Identification Deck

For wetlands and wildlife managers, naturalists and outdoors people, waterfront homeowners and science teachers, this is the Grasses, Sedges and Rushes of Wetlands Identification Deck. The small-format book is for in-the-field identification of 84 species (including 11 non-native species) of grasses, sedges and rushes of wetlands, with notes about their use by wildlife such as ducks, cranes, geese, rabbits and deer. Each plant is illustrated by color photographs, line drawings and plain-English identification text. Each 3" X 4" page of the book is laminated for water resistance, the pages being held together by two rings, allowing for quick and easy comparisons between the ID pages and the plants needing identification.
