Pennsylvania Certified Organic Annual Meeting

Lee Rinehart, NCAT's Northeast Regional Office Director, will be giving a presentation on energy crops for this event.

 

Home Energy Rater Training by NCAT
December 8-12, 2008
Butte, Montana

The National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT) is a RESNET accredited HERS Rater Training Provider. NCAT offers comprehensive energy auditor training with an emphasis on new residential construction and the HERS rating process. After four and a half days of training, the National Rater Exam will be administered on Friday afternoon.

 

Practical Tools and Solutions for Sustaining Family Farms Conference
January 21-24, 2009
Chattanooga, Tennessee

Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group sponsors this annual conference that offers sustainable production and direct marketing information for horticultural and livestock producers, enterprise management lessons, farm policy education, community food systems development trainings and the opportunity to learn from peers across the region. Look for an NCAT exhibit at the conference.

 

Ecological Farming Conference
January 21-24, 2009
Pacific Grove, California

This 29th annual conference is titled "United We Grow." NCAT Technical Specialist Karen Van Epen helped to organize Spanish-language workshops for Eco-Farm. NCAT's California Regional Office Director Rex Dufour will give a presentation at the conference, "Organics 101 for New Farmers."

 

Harvesting Clean Energy Conference IX
January 25-27, 2009
Billings, Montana

NCAT is one of the sponsors for the next convening of the Northwest’s premiere gathering to advance rural economic development through clean energy production. In addition to participating on the conference planning committee, NCAT will be providing several speakers for conference sessions.

 

Advanced Oilseed and Biodiesel Production Workshop
January 28-29, 2009
Billings, Montana

Farmers, businesspeople, and scientists will present the most current information about processing oilseed crops and on-farm biodiesel production at this Oilseeds for Fuel, Feed and the Future workshop, a joint effort of NCAT, the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, Montana Agro-Energy Initiative ,USDA Risk Management Agency and other co-sponsors.

 

Organic Farming Conference
February 26-29, 2009
LaCrosse, Wisconsin

NCAT is a co-sponsor for this 20th annual conference organized by MOSES, the Midwest Organic & Sustainable Education Service.

 

California Small Farm Conference
March 1-3, 2009
Sacramento, California

NCAT has participated in planning the 2009 conference, "Farming for the Future," with California Regional Office Director Rex Dufour serving on the conference board of directors. Dufour will be leading the conference's Organics Short Course/Tour on Sunday, March 1.

 

Southwest Marketing Network 7th Annual Conference
April 6-8, 2009
Durango, Colorado

The Southwest Marketing Network that NCAT helped found is planning another conference aimed at helping Southwestern producers and communities develop new and improved markets and enterprises and rebuild local food systems.
