The Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) is announcing the availability of grants totaling over $7 million dollars for private agricultural land  and forestry or woodland owners in Rhode Island. Application deadline is February 1, 2009.

The Rhode Island Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is currently taking applications for the FY2009 Environmental Quality Incentives Program.  The EQIP is available to all eligible private agricultural operators and forest land owners.  EQIP provides cost share assistance for eligible landowners to implement conservation practices that are part of their “Conservation Plan” or “Forest Stewardship Plan”.  EQIP provides funding for: Agricultural Waste Management, Irrigation Water Management, Pasture Management, Prescribed Grazing, Transition to Organic Farming, as well as, Forestry Management.
