Florida NRCS Leadership Participates in CIG Project Field Tour

Florida NRCS State Conservationist Carlos Suarez and other staff joined about 60 local producers and employees from various State and local governmental agencies to tour the Florida Ranchlands Environmental Services Project (FRESP) in Okeechobee County. This project is the result of a nationally-funded NRCS Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) that was awarded to the World Wildlife Fund.

Florida NRCS Stands Ready to Assist in Storm Recovery

Tropical Storm Fay soaked the state of Florida causing catastrophic flooding and damage.  President Bush has declared that a major disaster area exists in Florida and has ordered federal funding be made available for emergency work and repairs.

Florida NRCS is prepared to assist sponsors with Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program recovery efforts. The EWP program is aimed at relieving imminent hazards to life and property from floods, fires, windstorms, and other natural occurrences.

2008 NRCS Farm Bill Conservation Programs

The conservation provisions in the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (2008 Farm Bill) will provide conservation opportunities for farmers and ranchers for years to come. The new provisions build on the conservation gains made by farmers and ranchers through the 1985, 1996 and 2002 Farm Bills. They simplify existing programs and create new programs to address high priority environmental goals.
