PURPOSE
LeadNet aims to create a learning community both within MSUE and among our partners that is centered on facilitative leadership for community action. Cutting across all Extension program areas, areas of expertise, and administrative arenas, LeadNet works to develop and connect ideas, knowledge, develop and connect ideas, knowledge, skills and other resources in this broad area of knowledge practice.
MISSION
...to learn about, practice, and help other practice community-centered, issue-focused, shared leadership for collective learning and action.
GOALS
l promote community leadership development and facilitative approaches to leadership
l support and encourage Extension colleagues to gain facilitative competency as they work in collaborative ways in their communities
l develop curricula and programs on a variety of topics related to facilitative approaches to leadership and community leadership

...is an occasional newsletter sharing information, program write-ups, reviews and thought pieces pertaining to facilitative leadership within MSUE at the personal, organizational, and community levels. WORKSHOPS & LEARNING LABS...
conducted by LeadNet members for the public as well as MSUE staff on: facilitation, facilitative leadership, teams and trust, strategic futuring, decision making, conflict resolution, change, focus groups, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator TM, True Colors TM, Real Colors TM. is a three-day workshop designed to build facilitative leadership within MSU Extension, and among the public at large. The workshop provides participants with a thorough grounding in group facilitation in order to increse their ability to work productively with and community organizations. Participants learn process tools for brainstorming, analyzing ideas, decision making, and planning. They also develop skills in leading a group discussion, reaching consensus, setting outcome-based goals for meetings, and using flip charts. Each participant has opportunities to practice leading, and receives extensive written and verbal feedback from the instructors and co-participants. An impact study of the workshop was completed in March 2008.
is a 3-session, 6-day program designed for professionals in the natural resources arena. The inaugural program will be piloted in October, November and December of 2008. Click the title for a flyer explaining the program. See the link in the box at right for more information and to register.
STRATEGIC FUTURING...
is a one-day workshop that introduces group process tools for each step of a planning process. Participants learn about the steps, and practice tools for visioning, brainstorming, prioritizing, decision making and action planning. They also create a plan for a strategic futuring event.

For more than 30 years, MSU Extension and the Michigan Association of Counties have offered the New County Commissioner workshop series and other educational opportunities for new and returning commissioners, administrators and county officials.
