I have to disagree that "true" buckskins have a dorsal stripe. Genetically Buckskins are a Bay + the Cream gene and do not have a true dorsal stripe (some may have countershading but not a dorsal stripe). Only horses that have the dun gene have true dorsal stripes. A bay + the dun gene = dun/zebra dun , a black + the dun gene = grulla, and a sorrel + the dun gene = red dun.
