Information for Viewing DEC's Webcast Meetings
A "webcast" is the transmission of audio and/or video of a live or pre-recorded event over the Internet and differs from a regular web page because it is brought to you as "streaming media," which means that it downloads continuously while you view it. To view a webcast, you will need player software in addition to your web browser. Adobe Flash, RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, and Quicktime are all free players; please use the links at right if you wish to install one of these.
Webcasting of public meetings can be an efficient way for interested parties to observe such events, and DEC is pleased to provide this service. Under Executive Order 3, dated January 1, 2007, all public meetings subject to the Open Meetings Law (NYS Public Officers Law, Article 7) must be webcast, effective July 1, 2007. At a minimum, DEC will webcast such meetings. On occasion, other public meetings may also be provided as a webcast. It is important to note, however, that many of DEC's meetings are not subject to the Open Meetings Law and will not be webcast.
DEC will post the schedule of meetings to be webcast on this page. DEC will provide real-time (live) webcasting and synchronized captioning. On-demand online viewing of archived webcasts will be provided for 30 days after the meeting. DVD copies of the webcast will be made available upon request to the meeting contact person.
