ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Cooperative Development Division

The primary function of the Cooperative Development Division (CDD) is to provide technical assistance to producer groups and other rural residents desiring to form cooperatives. CDD meets the needs of customers through the cooperative development, and education and member relations programs. CDD is responsible for two major program areas: (1) Feasibility and Development and (2) Education and Member Relations

The following basic objectives provide direction for CDD work:

  1. Provide technical assistance to groups of producers and others interested in forming a cooperative by helping the group determine the feasibility of the proposed venture, organize a cooperative, and develop and implement a business plan.

  2. Assist cooperatives in the emerging stages to improve and adopt business operations and practices that help them become more self-sufficient and financially sound.

  3. Identify and pursue opportunities to promote use of the cooperative form of business by producers and other rural residents.

  4. Promote understanding of cooperatives through workshops for managers, directors, and others, and through informal presentations and discussions with groups and individuals.

  5. Conduct research and transmit findings on problems and issues facing developing cooperatives.
