Description: Objective information is generally lacking about women and their satisfactions and experiences from participation in outdoor recreation. Data were gathered from campers in three National Forests in Washington and Oregon. Attitudes, preferences, perceptions, and reported activities of men and women campers were compared. Overall, responses showed more similarities than differences; men and women were similar in their usage patterns, activity preferences, perceptions of problems, and attitudes about management practices. Small differences were present, however, and managers need to be aware of these differences when integrating recreation with other forest activities.
