Title: Some economic considerations in thinning Douglas-fir.
Author(s): Worthington, Norman P.
Date: 1957
Source: PNW Old Series Research Notes No. 137, p. 1-8
Station ID: OSN-PNW-137
Description: Many thousands of acres of young Douglas-fir stands in western Washington are ready for commercial thinning. This is true even after liberal allowance is made for premerchantable and under stocked stands, unfavorable topography, and lack of markets. However, with but few exceptions, regular systematic thinning is not being practiced even in favorably located, operable stands.
