"We are living through a very unusual marketing event coupled with the most sweeping changes in U.S. farm policy in 60 years. The definition of profit is a reward for risk taking. For profit potential to exist loss potential also exist. Risk management will be the key management concept of the next several years. Risk management is not free. This is a time to capture high prices but retain the opportunity for even higher prices on at least a portion of expected production it is also a time to retain flexibility in the percentage contracted."
