Don't Move Anything

By Leigh Greenwood, The Nature Conservancy

The movement of lots of stuff over long distances, in short time spans, is new to our planet. Firewood, hiking boots, imported fruit, bait buckets, ballast water... and now add to the list- potted plants.

It has a ring to it; alien ants in potted plants. Today's intriguing article about killer ants in Europe mentions at the very end that the way the ants are spreading so fast is people accidentally transporting ants in plants. Not pants. Just like firewood.
