Title: Resistance of Endophyte-Infected Plants of Tall Fescue and Perennial Ryegrass to the Russian Wheat Aphid (Homoptera: Aphididae)

Author: Clement, S.L.; Pike, K.S.; Kaiser, W.J.; Wilson, A. Dan

Date: 1991

Source: Journal of the Kansas Entomological Society, 63(4), 1990, pp. 646-648

Description: Fewer aphids of the Russian wheat aphid, (Mordvilko), were found on tall fescue and perennial ryegrass plants harboring systemic fungal endophytes than on endophyte-free plants in laboratory tests. These results indicate that enhanced resistance in some perennial grasses to D. noxia is associated with the presence of endophytic fungi.
