Description: Moderate physical activity (PA) improves physical fitness measures (i.e., aerobic capacity, agility, flexibility, body composition, and muscular endurance and strength). In addition to numerous physiological benefits, PA has been shown to increase cognitive and emotional functioning. These benefits lead to improved immune response and have been associated with increases in health and quality of life. PA has also been linked with reduced risk in cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes, numerous chronic diseases, and all-cause mortality. These findings are well established (US Department of Health and Human Services, 1996).
