Program Activities

WIPO's Member States approve a biennial program and budget which outlines the Organization's strategic goals, and its activities in pursuit of those goals.

A major area of activity is WIPO's work with Member States to develop international standards for intellectual property (IP) laws and practices.

WIPO also promotes the use of the IP system as a tool for economic development among emerging economies. This includes providing legislative advice, training, tools and assistance to member countries in formulating national IP strategies.

WIPO's efforts to promote a broader understanding and use of IP include a number of education and public outreach activities. The Organization also serves as an international forum for debate, exploring new issues arising in the global IP arena.
