Birmingham, AL - Dauphin Island, AL Post Office Temporarily Closed

Alabama District Officials closed the Dauphin Island Post Office at 8:45 a.m. for the remainder of the day. Due to the impending storm surge of Hurricane Ike, water is washing over the causeway leading from the mainland to the only bridge that provides vehicular access to the Island. High tide is predicted for 10:00 a.m., which will further increase water levels.
