Deputy Inspector General Matthew (Matt) A. Jadacki

Office of Emergency Management Oversight

Mr. Matt Jadacki is the Deputy Inspector General for Office of Emergency Management Oversight, under the Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS/OIG). He joined DHS/OIG in October 2005. The Office of Emergency Management Oversight focuses on preventing problems through a proactive program of internal control reviews, audits, and inspections to ensure disaster assistance funds are being spent wisely and disaster programs are operating in an effective and efficient manner.

He is also responsible for coordinating the audit activities of other federal Inspectors General who have an oversight responsibility for the funds transferred to their respective departments and agencies by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist in the disaster relief efforts.

Prior to joining DHS, Mr. Jadacki was the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Administrative Officer (CFO/CAO) of the National Weather Service, a component of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC). Before the National Weather Service, Mr. Jadacki was the Acting CFO of FEMA, managing over 200 employees and a $12 billion budget. Prior to FEMA, he worked in the U.S. Department of State from 1987 to 1991 as an Audit Manager and in DOC as an Operating Accountant/Auditor from 1981 to 1987.

Mr. Jadacki holds a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, and is both a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Government Financial Manager. He holds memberships in a number of societies, including the Association of Government Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
