Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Main Page $raquo; Outreach Initiatives
Making the Department of Homeland Security a model employer includes an initiative to recruit and hire minorities, veterans, and individuals with disabilities. The Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties has trained Departmental managers, giving them the tools and resources to support this initiative. In this effort to recruit individuals with disabilities, Selective Placement Coordinators, within each component, work with offices and managers to identify highly qualified people for vacant positions.
The Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties is committed to engaging with Arab-American, Muslim-American, Sikh-American and other ethnic and religious communities. These communities are critical to America’s future, and we are convinced that we cannot do an effective job in homeland security without actively and fully connecting with these communities.
