2008 Chemical Sector Security Summit
The 2008 Chemical Security Summit, co-sponsored by the Chemical Sector Coordinating Council and the Department of Homeland Security, covered the chemical security standards, maritime security transportation regulations, and security assessments.
Chemical Sector Comprehensive Reviews
In conducting the voluntary Chemical Sector Comprehensive Review, the Office of Infrastructure Protection works closely with federal, state, and local homeland security authorities, as well as the private-sector owners and operators, to identify security enhancements and protective measures.
Critical Infrastructure: Chemical Security
The Department of Homeland Security is responsible for regulating security at high-risk chemical facilities. However, chemical security is not solely a federal responsibility; it is shared among federal, state, and local governments, as well as the private sector. Government and industry must work together to strengthen the security of America's chemical facilities, while not undercutting an important part of the nation's economy.
