My good friend and close counterpart Juan Camilo Mouriño was tragically killed last night in a plane crash in Mexico City. I am deeply saddened by his death and offer my sincere condolences to his family and to his colleagues within the Calderon administration. Secretary Mouriño was a courageous and strong partner in the fight against dangerous criminal groups. He believed in the rule of law and worked very hard to increase coordination among security officials and law enforcement on both sides of the border. His passing is both untimely and tragic, and I will keep his family and friends in my thoughts and prayers.
