The Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC) program encourages industry investment in process efficiency, renewable resource, recycling, transportation and other technologies that reduce energy use and waste. The Business Energy Tax Credit provides a 35 percent dollar-for-dollar credit against State of Oregon taxes owed for businesses investing in these qualifying projects. The Energy Loan Program provides fixed interest rate, fixed term loans for qualifying energy efficiency, renewable resource recycling and alternative fuels projects in Oregon. The loan portfolio exceeds $230 million and includes loans with rates ranging from 6 to 8 percent and terms between five and fifteen years. Energy cost savings often make payments on the loan. TheNational Industrial Competitiveness through Energy Environment and Economics Nice³ is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program to promote energy efficiency, clean production, and economic competitiveness in industry. The grant program, known as NICE3, provides matching funds of up to $500,000 to state and industry partnerships (large and small business) for projects that develop and demonstrate advances in industrial energy efficiency and clean production technologies.
The Inventions & Innovations (I&I) program provides financial assistance at two levels: up to $40,000 (Category 1) or up to $200,000 (Category 2) - for conducting early development and establishing technical performance of innovative, energy-saving ideas and inventions. Inventions and Innovation grants are open to U.S. citizens, either native-born or naturalized, small businesses that are U.S. owned, or institutions of higher learning located in the U.S. Special consideration is given to individual inventors and small businesses. In addition to financial assistance, this program offers technical guidance and commercialization support to successful applicants.
Conservation & Renewables Discount Program The Bonneville Power Administration has been working with wholesale customers for two years to design a way to promote energy conservation and renewable resources. The approach that the Bonneville Power Administration and its customers decided on involves a rate discount that allows utilities and direct service customers spend less on wholesale energy purchases and use those savings to fund local conservation and renewable energy resource activities. Customers decide locally how to spend these funds by choosing from a range of qualifying activities.
The Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership (OMEP) is sponsored by the Department of Commerce´s National Institute of Standards and Technology. It is a national network of services to assist smaller manufacturers to become globally competitive. OMEP partners federal support with state and local organizations to deliver services which address the critical and often unique needs of area manufacturers. In addition, OMEP is developing common tools and resources to address recurring and consistent challenges faced by all manufacturers nationwide.
TheIndustrial Assessment Center (IAC) program enables eligible small and medium-sized manufacturers to have comprehensive industrial assessments performed at no cost to the manufacturer. Recommendations from industrial assessments have averaged about $55,000 in potential annual savings for each manufacturer. There are numerous ways to go about the process of conducting an industrial assessment. This link is intended to provide an overview of the sources of services, self-help tools and expertise currently available to manufacturers throughout the United States.
