Rogers Announces Grant for
Auburn - Opelika Airport
Funds to Improve Safety, Update Master Plan

Washington, DC -
Auburn-Opelika Robert G. Pitts Airport has received a $287,000 grant award to improve the facility’s perimeter fencing and update its master plan, Congressman Mike Rogers said today.
“Safe and reliable air service is essential to the Auburn-Opelika region’s economic well-being,” Rogers said. “With the help of Senators Shelby and Sessions, I am pleased to see these investments are being made in the Third District’s air facilities.”

Additional perimeter fencing will be installed to prevent unauthorized access to the airport operations areas. The grant award, administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation, will also provide funding to help update the facility’s master plan.
Auburn-Opelika Robert G. Pitts Airport serves Auburn and Lee counties and is owned by Auburn University.
