BIS Discusses Export Control and Transshipment Issues with Singapore

WASHINGTON – Senior BIS officials today met with their counterparts from Singapore to discuss ongoing bilateral engagement and future cooperation in addressing transshipment and other export control issues.  BIS officials welcomed Singapore’s recent adoption of the expanded control list and conveyed the Bureau’s interest in continuing to enhance collaboration on export control enforcement and other related matters.

"BIS commends and supports Singapore's efforts and commitment to further enhance its comprehensive export control system," said Under Secretary of Commerce Mario Mancuso.  "Because the Port of Singapore is one of the world's busiest transshipment ports, it is critical that we continue to work with our counterparts in Singapore to remain vigilant against the risk of illicit transshipment and to foster legitimate trade."
