Speaker Biography: Luci Tapahonso was born in Shiprock, N.M., where she grew upon a farm within the Navajo culture. She is the author of several booksof poetry including "Saanii Dahataa/The Women Are Singing: Poems and Stories" and "Blue Horses Rush In." Winner of the 1999 Wordcraft Circle of Native American Writers "Storyteller of the Year" Award, Tapahonso is a professor of American Indian Studies and English at the University of Arizona in Tuscon.
