Waterfront Parking Update:
The Asbury Park City Council has suspended operation of the parking stations until May 2009.  Free parking until then. 

 

KITES FLY HIGH DURING
THE ASBURY PARK KITE FESTIVAL!
On August 2nd and 3rd visitors to the beautiful Asbury Park Beach were delighted to see one of the best kiting extravaganzas at the Jersey Shore!
This event is held annually.

FOURTH OF JULY PARADE
FIRST PLACE WINNER!

Members of the Asbury Park Environmental and Shade Tree Commission ride the winning float in the Asbury Park Fourth of July Parade.
Their float took first place and their theme is supportive of the City’s commitment to “Green Living”.

 

ASBURY PARK BEACH TAKES FIRST PLACE
IN MONMOUTH & OCEAN COUNTIES!
The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC), New Jersey Sea Grant (NJSG), the Richard Stockton College Coastal Research Center and the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism teamed up to give beachgoers the opportunity to vote for their favorite beach with the New Jersey’s Top Ten Beaches Survey.

Asbury Park is #6 in the state
and #1 in Monmouth and Ocean Counties!

This was reported in the Asbury Park Press, USA Weekend section that previewed the Summer Travel Report. USA Weekend is an APP insert that is stuffed into 600 newspapers and reaches 23.4 million readers. It also appears on the USA Weekend.com website. We were in the good company of Detroit, Seattle, Miami, Oahu, Los Angeles and a few other very cool cities! What great publicity!

Council Meeting Rescheduled

CIVIL UNION APPLICATIONS:

Applications for civil unions are available at City Hall. The processing cost is $28 and can be paid by Check or money order. Civil union applications are also available for download.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Enforcement is underway for violations of the City's alternate side of the street parking ordinance for the entire length of Main Street.

Here is the schedule:

  • Main Street (Rt. 71) Westside - 7 to 8 a.m. Monday and Friday - Lake Avenue to Deal Lake Drive
  • Main Street (Rt. 71) Eastside - 7 to 8 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday - Lake Avenue to Deal Lake Drive

The City's Public Maintenance Department has posted signs along Main Street advising of the restrictions.

Springwood Avenue Redevelopment Area Click HERE to view plan
The Springwood Avenue Advisory Committee (SAAC) has presented a draft redevelopment plan to the Mayor and Council for their consideration. The Council agreed to refer the draft plan to the City Planning Board for its review and comment. Use the above link to view this draft, dated September 19, 2007.
