  Happy Thanksgiving
This Thanksgiving season greets North Carolinians at a very tough time. Whether it was sky-high gas prices over the summer, recent drops in retirement account balances or concerns about job security, these challenges can make anyone forget that that we have much to be thankful for.

As we head into this season, it is good to take a moment and reflect on the many blessings we have as a nation, and remember our men and women in uniform, past and present, for their courage, bravery and sacrifice in protecting our freedoms. We should also remember those who serve our communities closer to home: those who teach our children, those who keep us safe, and the many others who work hard every day to help make America the best country in the world.

I am grateful for all who serve our communities and our country and I am grateful for family and friends. I am also grateful, as always, to serve as your voice in Washington.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Presidential Inauguration Information
Every four years, our nation’s capital celebrates the excitement and pageantry of the Presidential Inauguration. As in years before, my office receives many requests from North Carolinians who want to witness the swearing in of our nation’s president. This year is no exception. To date, my office has received thousands of requests to attend this year’s inauguration, which is on January 20th.

Unfortunately, the number of requests we have received far exceeds the number of tickets my office will be assigned, and we will not be able to accommodate everyone’s request for tickets in the ticketed area. Any North Carolinian wishing to attend should know that there will be a general admission area on the National Mall that will accommodate those who do not have tickets. I encourage you to take advantage of that opportunity as well as the other many events that are planned for this historic inaugural. For information on these events, please visit http://inaugural.senate.gov.

As always, I also encourage all North Carolinians who are visiting Washington, DC to stop by my office and say hello. We’re always glad to see you.
