Before the summer of 2008, it is likely that most Americans had never heard of Abkhazia. Paul Crego discusses the history, language and culture of the Abkhazian people and the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict as it developed in the late Soviet period through the 1992-1993 war. Abkhazia in the context of geopolitical conflicts was also covered. Further, he discussed his assessment that Abkhazia has become a Russian military colony.
