  • IFAC Hosts 2008 SMP Forum - Representatives of IFAC member bodies, associates, regional accountancy bodies and other organizations are invited to participate in the 2008 IFAC Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Forum. The forum, which will be held in Abuja, Nigeria on Monday October 13, will focus on identifying and addressing issues impacting SMPs and small- and medium-sized entities (SMEs), particularly in Africa. The Forum program brochure and registration and hotel information are available online. Registration is free. The deadline for registrations is September 26.
  • IFAC Proposes New Guidance for Accountants in Business - IFAC's Professional Accountants in Business Committee is seeking comments by September 23, 2008 on two proposed new International Good Practice Guidance documents: Evaluating and Improving Governance in Organizations and Costing to Drive Organizational Performance. Final versions of other guidance for professional accountants in business are available from the IFAC bookstore.
  • PIOB Issues Third Report on Public Interest Oversight - The Public Interest Oversight Board has issued its third public report on its independent oversight of IFAC's public interest activities, including international standard setting for auditing, ethics and education, and the Member Body Compliance Program. The full report, which summarizes the PIOB's activities during the past year,  is available on its website: www.ipiob.org.
Membership  

IFAC is comprised of 157 members and associates in 123 countries and jurisdictions, representing over 2.5 million accountants. Member bodies participate in IFAC's Member Body Compliance Program, demonstrating their commitment to promoting high quality standards for the world's accountants. Member and associate responses to Parts 1 and 2 of the Compliance Program, and action plans developed to further convergence and meet other IFAC membership requirements, have been posted to IFAC's website.
