Inglis reviews Brazil’s success in energy independence

Joins 10 other Members on the Bipartisan trip

(November 26, 2007)

U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC) joins 10 other Members of Congress this week in traveling to Brazil for briefings on the country's success in becoming a net exporter of energy.

The six-day trip is being led by Eliot Engel (D-NY).

“Brazil has achieved energy independence in part through the use of ethanol,” Inglis said. “They decided they had enough of these energy crises and did something about it through sugar-based ethanol. Surely the United States can get onto other things as well, such as cellulosic ethanol and other fuels of the future.”
