Unconventional Season
The Texas Bowl will have a local flavor. For the second time in three seasons, the Rice football team is going bowling after accepting an invitation Wednesday to the Texas Bowl. The hometown game will be played Dec. 30 at Houston’s Reliant Stadium before a national television audience on the NFL Network. Rice’s opponent hasn’t been determined.
Rice optics pioneer secures national security award
Rice nanophotonics pioneer Naomi Halas has added another award to her impressive resumé. Halas has been named a National Security Science and Engineering Faculty Fellow by the Department of Defense. With more than 650 nominees, the prestigious program selected Halas and only five others for the honor.
