Subject:Reminder- Survey on Federal depository library usage of PACER end
s Sept. 25
Content-Type:text/plain
GPO encourages depository libraries to submit a response to the survey to
determine recent and projected usage of the Public Access to Court
Electronic Records (PACER), an electronic service run by the Administrative
Office of the U.S. Courts on a cost-recovery basis and is not currently
available for selection through the Federal Depository Library Program.
GPO has requested that the Administrative Office provide no-fee public
access through Federal depository libraries. However, GPO's desire to obtain
depository library access must be reconciled with the legal authority given
to the Judicial Conference of the United States, the judicial governing body
of the U.S. Federal Courts, by Congress to impose user fees for electronic
access to case information made available through PACER.
GPO will use the information gathered from this survey to prepare for
further discussions with the Administrative Office, but please note that as
of this time, the Administrative Office is unable to provide no-fee Federal
depository access to PACER.
Please submit your response to this survey by Sept. 25, 2006. The survey is
available at
http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/fdlp/coll-dev/pacer-survey.html.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to this survey.
