WALSH ANNOUNCES FEDERAL FUNDING FOR

CATO-IRA-MERIDIAN-VICTORY AMBULANCE CORPS

$125,000 Loan and Grant Package from USDA Rural Development to Purchase

New Ambulance

(Syracuse, New York)- Congressman Jim Walsh today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development has awarded a $125,000 loan and grant package to the Cato-Ira-Meridian-Victory Ambulance Corps (CIMVAC).

The funds will be distributed as a $100,000 loan and a $25,000 grant. The money will be used to buy a 2007 GMC/Chevrolet Type III ambulance.

“The USDA’s investment in crucial emergency services goes well beyond a dollar figure,” said Congressman Walsh. “This funding will have a direct impact on the health and well-being of the community.”

The CIMVAC funds were made available through USDA Rural Development’s Community Facilities program. The Community Facilities program provides funds for essential public facilities, such public safety buildings, schools, libraries, day care centers, health care clinics and fire and rescue services. Last year, the program invested more than $10 million in New York.

“Helping New York’s rural communities acquire the equipment they need to provide vital medical services is an important part of President Bush’s First Responder Initiative and USDA Rural Development is proud to support this effort,” said Patrick H. Brennan, state director for USDA Rural Development in New York. “CIMVAC’s new ambulance is sorely needed and will improve emergency medical care and save lives in the area they serve.”
