(Syracuse, New York)- On Wednesday September 20, the Central Upstate Regional Alliance announced the first ever Emerging Business Competition. The creation of this competition was spurred by the findings of the Metropolitan Development Association of Syracuse and Central New York (MDA) Essential New York Initiative, a strategic plan to transform the region into a knowledge-based economy.
"Small businesses and entrepreneurs are playing an increasingly significant role in our region's current and future success," said Walsh. "Initiatives like the Emerging Business Competition are an important part of recognizing their growing significance and encouraging our economy's growth."
Congressman Walsh has been very supportive of the MDA's Essential New York Initiative by securing federal funding to help develop the plan, and to implement key projects like the Emerging Business Competition.
