Inglis to view progress in Iraq

Delegation to make stops in Kuwait, Israel and Czech Republic as well

(July 25, 2008)

U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC) will make his fourth trip to Iraq, traveling with a bipartisan group of four other U.S. Representatives this weekend. The group will also make stops in Kuwait, Israel and the Czech Republic.

Led by Rep. Steve Lynch (D-MA), the five-day trip will give lawmakers the opportunity to examine progress on political, military, and reconstruction efforts in Iraq. “The security situation in Iraq has changed significantly since I was last there in April of 2007,” Inglis said. “I’m looking forward to seeing that progress and to urging progress on reconciliation goals.”

The group will make a brief stop in Kuwait, discuss regional security and humanitarian efforts with officials in Israel, and review missile defense, anti-terrorist financing and anti-money laundering efforts in the Czech Republic.

“The advance briefings for this trip show the impressive work that our troops are doing,” Inglis said. “Their service in Iraq, their substantial cooperation with allies like Israel and their technological proficiencies in missile defense, all show that they really are America’s best. I’m looking forward to seeing them and to learning more.”
