Department of the Interior GPRA Strategic Plans

The Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) requires that each federal agency submit a comprehensive strategic plan to the Congress. The strategic plan provides a roadmap for agencies to meet their goals and fulfill their missions. The plans include a set of measurable long-term goals for the organization. The goals should be based on outcomes, rather than activities or work processes.

Strategic plans cover a period of at least five years and are revised at least every three years. Interior’s plan includes an overview and eight bureau components. Interior's FY 2003-2008 Strategic Plan was submitted to Congress in September 2003 and Interior's FY2000-2005 Strategic Plan was submitted to Congress in September 2000.
