Thanks for coming by the Philatelic Films on Saturday.

If you missed out on seeing "Jezebel" and "Hallelujah," there's a great clip of Hallelujah on YouTube. This is the "Swanee Shuffle": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iZAoXlNwQs

This Saturday, January 10th, we're showing two movies! Jezebel is at 1:00 p.m. and Hallelujah is at 3:00 p.m.

Jezebel stars Bette Davis as a sassy, headstrong southern belle stirring up controversy in her antebellum, mint julep-drinking New Orleans community.

Hallelujah is the first major studio feature-film to star an all-black cast. Hallelujah follows a poor cotton farmer who is lured away from his community by worldly temptation. The soundtrack is infused with folk songs, spirituals, blues, and jazz (two by Irving Berlin).

Bette Davis and Hallelujah were featured on 2008 US commemorative stamps.

"Preserving Postal History" was a great success! Manda, the museum's preservation specialist, talked with visitor's about the recent conservation treatment of the Benjamin Franklin statue.
