Whitfield Announces $2.4 Million In Federal Funds For Local Fire Departments
Aug 17, 2005
Congressman Ed Whitfield announced Wednesday that 18 fire departments in the First Congressional District will receive a total of $2,462,273 in the form of grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The funds will be used to purchase new equipment for the departments.
This grant money will be a big boost to these fire departments, said Whitfield. Firefighters risk their lives everyday for our safety. It is important we give them the equipment they need to protect our families, homes and businesses.
The funds are provided through DHSs Fire Fighter Assistance program.
