Susan Harwood Training Grant Program: In the March 26, 2008 Federal Register the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced the availability of funding for the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program (Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance number 17.502). The purpose of this program is to provide funds for programs to train employees and employers to recognize avoid and prevent safety and health hazards in their workplaces. The program emphasizes four areas: Educating employees and employers in small businesses, training employees and employers about new OSHA standards, training at-risk employee and employer populations and training employees and employers about high risk activities or hazards identified by OSHA. The application deadline is May 23, 2008. Eligible applicants include non-profit organization, community and faith-based organizations and institutions of higher education. HOPE VI Revitalization Grants Program: In the March 26, 2008 Federal Register the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Office of the Secretary announced the availability of funding for the HOPE VI Revitalization Grants Program (Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance number 14-866). The purpose of this program is to improve the living environment for public housing residents of severely distressed public housing projects through the demolition, rehabilitation, reconfiguration or replacement of obsolete public housing projects; revitalize sites (including remaining public housing dwelling units) on which such public housing projects are located and contribute to the improvement of the surrounding neighborhood; provide housing that will avoid or decrease the concentration of very low-income families; and build sustainable communities. The application deadline is June 20, 2008. Eligible applicants include Public Housing Authorities. To request an application package, visit
